Tracy Lord is young, beautiful, sophisticated, fabulously wealthy, and about to marry what she thinks is the man of her dreams. But when her dashing ex-husband and the two reporters assigned to cover her wedding descend on her family’s opulent country house outside Philadelphia the day before the ceremony, Tracy has a hard time keeping her nuptials—not to mention the dictates of her own heart—on track.

JENN THOMPSON (Director) currently serves as a Co-Artistic Director of NYC’s TACT/The Actors Company Theatre (recently named “Company of the Year” by The Wall Street Journal). There she has directed the off-Broadway productions of: Neil Simon’s Lost in Yonkers(2012 Drama Desk Nomination for Best Revival of a Play), Vaclav Havel’s The Memorandum, Sidney Howard’s The Late Christopher Bean, Alan Ayckbourn’s Bedroom Farce, Tennessee Williams’ The Eccentricities of a Nightingale (New York Times’ Top Ten for Theatre Pick, 2008), as well as Ladies in Retirement, My Three Angels, Rain and Kind Lady. Other NYC directing credits include the NY premiere of Holly Webber’s play Pratfalls (The Abingdon), the world-premiere musical Seeing Stars, (NYMF), Badge by Matthew Schneck (Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre), The Brilliance of Bernstein (American Musicals Project) and Big Doolie (FringeNYC). She has developed new work at Hartford Stage, Primary Stages, The York, Abingdon Theatre Company, The Bridge Theatre and Rattlestick, among others. Regional credits include The Syringa Tree (Portland Stage Company), Noises Off and Boeing Boeing (Dorset Theatre Festival), as well as 19 seasons with Connecticut’s River Rep at the Ivoryton Playhouse where she served as Producing Director, working on over 50 productions including Damn Yankees,The Heiress, Dinner with Friends and The Foreigner. A 2012 finalist for the SDC’s Joe A. Callaway Award, for excellence in New York City directing, Jenn is married to actor Stephen Kunken and mom to Naomi. This spring she will direct Beth Henley’s play, Abundance, for Hartford Stage.

DAVID TOSER (Costume Designer) is pleased to work at Pioneer Theatre Company and to continue a relationship working with Jenn Thompson. He is a graduate of Brown University and the Yale School of Drama. His work has been seen on and off Broadway and TV, including 26 Tony Award productions. His work is currently seen in New York in the Irish Repertory Theatre’s production of The Freedom of the City.
MARY LOUISE GEIGER (Lighting Designer) has lit PTC’s productions of The Dead, Smokey Joe’s Café, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, The Last Night of Ballyhoo, The Tempest, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Piano Lesson, Conversations With My Father and Lend Me a Tenor in previous seasons. On Broadway she has designed the lighting for The Constant Wife. Recent off-Broadway projects include the lighting for The Morini Strad, Olive and the Bitter Herbs, (Primary Stages); The New York Idea (Atlantic Theatre Company); Kindness, Blue Door and The Busy World is Hushed (Playwrights Horizons); Finn (Skirball Center), Mabou Mines’ Dollhouse(St. Ann’s and International Tour), Red Beads (Mabou Mines); Violet Fire (BAM Next Wave Festival, National Theatre, Belgrade Serbia); Lovers, Three Men on a Horse, Incident at Vichyand The Triangle Factory Fire Project (TACT – Becket Theatre). She has worked at many regional theatres all over the country including ACT Theatre in Seattle, The Guthrie Theater, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, The Mark Taper Forum, and The Seattle Repertory Theatre, among others. In addition, she has designed ballets for the Royal Danish Ballet, New York City Ballet, The San Francisco Ballet, and The Bolshoi Ballet. Ms. Geiger trained at the Yale School of Drama, and is on the faculty of the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.

AMANDA FRENCH (Hair and Makeup Designer) has been a Makeup and Hair Designer for over 20 years. She has worked for The Utah Shakespeare Festival, The Utah Opera, Egyptian Theatre Company and the University of Texas at Austin. She is a contributing writer in the tenth edition of Stage Makeup by Corson, Glavan and Norcross, and her work can also be seen inThe Costume Technician’s Handbook by Ingham and Covey, and Wig Making and Styling: A Complete Guide for Theatre and Film by Ruskai and Lowery. She attended the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati where she studied with Hair and Makeup Designer Lenna Kaleva. She is a member of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) and a current University of Utah instructor of wigs and makeup.
JESSE PORTILLO (Associate Lighting Designer) is happy to return to Pioneer Theatre Company, where he previously designed lighting for Black Comedy and worked as an Assistant Lighting Designer on Peter Pan, Smokey Joe’s Cafe and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Recent designs include She Was My Brother for Plan-B Theatre, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and Too Much Memory for Salt Lake Acting Company, Oliver for the Grand Theatre and Kiss Me, Kate for Light Opera Oklahoma. Other credits include the Egyptian Theatre, Pygmalion Theatre and Salt Lake Shakespeare. Jesse is an Assistant Professor (Clinical) in the University of Utah Department of Theatre where he teaches courses in Lighting Design.
JANINE SOBECK (Dramaturg) is a freelance dramaturg as well as the Dramaturgy Specialist at Brigham Young University where she oversees the dramaturgy program, mentors student programs, works as a dramaturg, and is the creator of the 4th WALL, BYU’s dramaturgy website (4thwalldramaturgy.byu.edu/). Previously, Janine worked as the Artistic Associate: Literary at Arena Stage in Washington DC, where she was the head dramaturg, literary manager and producer of new work. Janine is currently the VP Communications for the Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas as well as a writer and critic for the Utah Theater Bloggers Association. She has been a judge for the DC Helen Hayes Awards and in 2009 she was awarded the Dramaturgy Debut Award for the Association for Theatre in Higher Education. Janine has an M.A. in Theatre History Theory and Criticism from Brigham Young University.

SYNOPSIS: Jerry Herman’s energetic Hello, Dolly! is a musical filled with charisma and heart. Matchmaker Dolly Levi is a widow, a matchmaker, and also a professional meddler –but everything changes when she decides that the next match she needs to make is to find someone for herself. Set in New York City at the turn of the century, Hello Dolly! is boisterous and charming from start to finish. Dolly Levi is one of the strongest and richest starring roles for a woman ever written for musical theatre.
