PTC Announces Local Child Pre-Screening for Waitress

Based on the 2007 Sundance film, Waitress is the story of Jenna, a pie chef and waitress at a small-town Southern diner who’s stuck in a loveless marriage. When Jenna discovers she is pregnant, a local pie-baking contest with a cash prize becomes Jenna and her baby’s chance for a better life. But, as is often the case, fate has a few extra ingredients that complicate Jenna’s recipe for a new life. Nominated for four Tony Awards, Waitress is a theatrical treat with delicious songs by multiple Grammy Award-winner Sara Bareilles.

Children’s Schedule:
*The children’s character, LULU, will only make an appearance in the last scene of the production. As a result, Rehearsals and Performances for the role will be very limited and specific. The scheduling of this part, however, will be made sometime within the follow windows of time…
April 7 – April 26, 2025 (Rehearsals)
- Monday – Friday: Sometime between the end of School (Approx 3:30 p.m.) until the end of rehearsal (No later than 8:00 p.m.). If school concludes earlier on Friday, the actor may be called earlier in the day.
- Saturdays: Sometime within the hours of 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
April 28 – May 17, 2025 (Dress Rehearsals & Performances)
Dress Rehearsals and Performances will run in the afternoons and evenings. School schedules will be taken into consideration, but actors may be called out of school for Wednesday Matinee performances. Children will be released before or no later than 11:00 p.m. every evening.
Pre-Screen Information:
- Actors must attend an in-person Pre-screen, Thursday, January 9th, 2025 between 4:00-5:00 PM. Please bring a recent picture of the child performer.
- Callbacks are in person, by invitation only on Saturday January 11, 2025. Time: TBA.

Cast Breakdown for Waitress
Auditioners must be between 5 – 7 years old. Cannot be taller than 45 inches tall
LULU: (Female Identifying, 5-6 years of age) Daughter of Jenna and Earl. A sweet, carefree child who appears in the last scene of the show. Should be confident, comfortable around adults and in public situations, be able to take instructions well, and be able to engage in a small amount of dialogue and movement on stage.
