So sorry I didn’t report in last week—it’s been all Newsies all the time!
I think Santa and his elves have nothing on PTC and our production of Newsies. Every corner of the building is humming. It’s so exciting. Rehearsals are flying by. We’ve finished act one, including “Seize the Day,” that gigantic show-stopping dance number. Our “newsies” are simply incredible. There’s scenery spread out on every available inch backstage, onstage, and in the scene shop (see photo).
The costume shop is awash in dance shoes, newsboy caps, and the most stunning fabrics for dresses for our leading ladies.
Next week is our designer run—a chance for our designers and production staff to see what’s been going on in the rehearsal room and how the show is starting to look before tech week. It’s also a chance for the cast to show off how hard they’ve been working. It will be a bit of a haul. We’re working 10 days without a day off. We all want Thanksgiving Day off so we’ll work this Sunday instead.
