Director’s Brief: “Honey Honey”

Director’s Brief: “Honey Honey”

by Karen Azenberg

Greetings from New York City!

“Honey Honey,” I am here in New York doing auditions for Mamma Mia! – What fun! Though, to be honest, ABBA eight hours a day for four days straight might be all I can take, and juggling the goings on here in New York and all the excitement back in Salt Lake has been a lot to take in.

Speaking of excitement, did you hear? — We won the Broadway World Regional Awards for Best Play, Best Actor in a Play, and Best Lighting Design for The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time! And have you read the reviews for Bright Star? If you haven’t gotten your tickets yet, you’d better hurry; they are selling like hotcakes.

Monday starts rehearsal for “i” the world premiere of Jeff Talbott’s new play. I am so excited. Jeff and I are meeting here in New York for a few last-minute notes, and we both fly to Salt Lake this weekend. He is such a smart writer and a brilliant collaborator. If you attend the Monday, Feb. 19 performance, you can meet Jeff at our Postscript post-show event in the lobby following the show.

I have to get back to auditions now, but I’ll see you back at PTC!
