Director’s Brief: PTC actors show up at the Tonys

I want to give a shout out and a huge congratulations to some of our PTC actors. They are having the celebration of their lives this weekend with Sunday’s Tony Awards, which are honor the nominated shows they are currently in this season on Broadway. Nominated for Best Musical, “Beetlejuice” includes Alex Brightman (Henry in 2011’s Next to Normal), Kim Sava (2015’s Fiddler on the Roof) and Kelvin Moon Loh (2009’s Miss Saigon). Nominated in multiple categories, “The Cher Show” includes Matthew Hydzik (2017’s Chess).
Nominated for Best Musical, “Hadestown” includes the incomparable Patrick Page, a veteran of several PTC productions and nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical. Nominated for Best Play, “Ink” includes Ian Bedford (2018’s Oslo), Jessica Naimy (2018’s Christmas at Pemberley) and William Connell (from this year’s The Lion in Winter). Nominated in multiple categories, “Network,” includes Joshua Boone (2012’s In the Heights). Nominated in multiple categories, “To Kill a Mockingbird,” includes both David Manis (from several PTC productions including 2013’s Clybourne Park) and Rebecca Watson (also from several, including 2013’s Something’s Afoot). And finally, from “The Prom,” nominated for Best Musical as well as other categories are four PTC alums: Angie Schworer (2013’s Sweet Charity), Kalyn West (2017’s Play-by-Play reading of Ass), Kate Marilley (2013’s Something’s Afoot) and Park City’s Susie Carroll (2013 & 2014, Elf the Musical and The Music Man respectively).
Congratulations to all these productions and especially to the fine actors who also share their talents with PTC!
