The Loge Gallery, Pioneer Theatre Company, Presents Prints from Victoria Goro-Rapoport and David Smith-HarrisonSalt Lake City – Pioneer Theatre Company’s Loge Gallery presents an exhibit of works by renowned printmakers Victoria Goro-Rapoport and David Smith-Harrison from October 21 – November 5, 2011.
Born in Moscow, Russia, Victoria Goro-Rapoport graduated from Moscow Art College with a BFA in set design in 1985. Until her emigration from Russia in 1990, she worked with various puppet and drama theaters as a set designer. From 1990 to 1994, she lived in Jerusalem, Israel, where she was introduced to the technique of etching – her current primary means of artistic expression. She earned her MFA in set design from the University of Utah, and another MFA in printmaking from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Also a University of Utah graduate, David Smith-Harrison’s work has been exhibited all over the country and can be found in prestigious private collections such as George Lucas’. His museum collections include The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, the Long Beach Museum of Art, and many others.
The exhibit can be experienced on the mezzanine level of the Roy W. and Elizabeth E. Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre through the run of the PTC’s production of The Tempest. The gallery is open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday for the general public and before and after performances for ticket holders.
