Setting the Stage
Fifty Years of Pioneer Theatre Design
Salt Lake City – Pioneer Theatre Company’s Loge Gallery presents “Setting the Stage: Fifty Years of Pioneer Theatre Design,” a collection of theatrical renderings from dozens of designers whose creations have been brought to life on the Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre’s main stage since its inaugural season in 1962. The display will appear during the run of PTC’s season finale, Man of La Mancha, May 4 – May 19, 2012.
The exhibit will include works by such artists as Ariel Ballif, the set designer who opened PTC’s first season, Vern Adix, Ronald Crosby, William Barber, Peter Willardson and Amanda Brown. Current resident designers include George Maxwell, Carol Wells-Day, Brenda Van der Wiel, Kevin Alberts and Amanda French.
Work by lighting, set and costume designers Susan Branch Towne, James Wolk, Sid Perkes, Linda Pisano, Peter Harrison, Bill Clarke, Claudia Boddy, Beth Novak, Michael Gilliam, Phil Monat, David Paulin, David Mickelsen, Gary English and Gary Daines will also be displayed.
