Pioneer Theatre Company holds a live filming press conference for upcoming song-and-dance musical

Pioneer Theatre Company will hold a Press Reception on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. There will be a meet-and-greet with the cast and artistic staff of Sweet Charity, where members of the press will have an opportunity for pictures and interviews. Press members are then invited to an exclusive live rehearsal of a scene from the musical, which can be filmed for broadcast.

Sweet Charity is the story of a dancehall girl looking for Mr. Right in all the wrong places. Legendary Broadway choreographer Bob Fosse conceived the show, which is based on a film by Federico Fellini and whose story was written by American comedy icon Neil Simon.

The 25-member cast of triple-threat actor/singer/dancers includes NANCY LEMENAGER as Charity Hope Valentine. Lemenager has appeared on Broadway as Velma in Chicago, Brenda in Twyla Tharp and Billy Joel’s Movin’ Out, and in Never Gonna Dance, Dream, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Guys and Dolls and Kiss Me, Kate. JOHN SCHERER plays Charity’s suitor, Oscar Lindquist. Scherer’s Broadway credits include Harold Prince’s LoveMusik,Sunset Boulevard, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s By Jeeves, and Funny Girl.

SEAN MCDERMOTT plays celebrity love interest Vittorio. McDermott’s Broadway credits include Chris in Miss Saigon (opposite Jonathan Price and Lea Salonga), Whizzer in Falsettos(opposite Mandy Patinkin), Rusty in Starlight Express (opposite Jane Krakowski), Danny Zuko inGrease (opposite Lucy Lawless), Billy Flynn in Chicago, the title roles in Jekyll and Hyde, Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar and Billy Bigelow in Carousel.

PTC Artistic Director and award-winning choreographer KAREN AZENBERG directs and choreographs the production. Guest artist PHIL RENO music-directs the production.
