Pioneer Theatre Company Announces Local Auditions for
A FEW GOOD MEN by Aaron Sorkin
and MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING by William Shakespeare
Salt Lake City – Pioneer Theatre Company announces local auditions for their productions of both A Few Good Men and Much Ado About Nothing. Auditions for both shows will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Callbacks are scheduled for Wednesday, October 30, 2013. Exact callback times will be announced to auditioners.
AEA-only auditions will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, but AEA members may sign up for any time slot. Non-AEA auditioners may audition from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on that same date.
Auditioners should indicate which show is of interest to them. Auditioning for one of the two shows or for both of them is perfectly acceptable, but the maximum time allotted is five minutes total per auditioner. Sides for both shows will be provided and available when signing up for a five-minute audition time slot.
All auditioners should sign up in advance in the PTC Business Office, located at 300 South 1400 East in Room 325. The sign-up sheet will be posted by noon on Tuesday, October 22, 2013. Auditions will be held in Room 237 at Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre. A photo and resume are recommended.
Rehearsal dates for the production of A Few Good Men are Monday, December 30, 2013 through Thursday, January 23, 2014. A Few Good Men production dates are Friday, January 24, 2014 through Saturday, February 8, 2014. PTC Artistic Director Karen Azenberg will direct the production.
Rehearsal dates for the production of Much Ado About Nothing are Monday, January 27, 2014 through Thursday, February 20, 2014. Much Ado About Nothing production dates are Friday, February 21, 2014 through Saturday, March 8, 2014. Guest director Matt August will direct the production.
All roles in both shows are open. There are roles in Much Ado About Nothing for 14 men and 6 women. In the cast of A Few Good Men, there are roles for 17 men and 1 woman. Character breakdowns will be listed at the sign-up sheet, but auditioners are encouraged to be intimately familiar with the play and its characters beforehand. All auditioners must be 18 years of age or older.
