Artistic Staff Bios

WENDY WEINER (Playwright) is a playwright and TV writer. Her play about Hillary Clinton, Hillary: A Modern Greek Tragedy with a (Somewhat) Happy Ending received its premiere in New York from New Georges theater company. Her four solo shows, all directed by and developed with Julie Kramer, have been presented at venues in New York and San Francisco. Wendy’s writing for TV includes her original TV pilot “The Joys of Sex,” which is currently optioned by AwesomenessTV. She has also sold a TV pilot, “AKA,” to ABC Family and written TV movies for ABC Family and Disney. She has been an artist-in-residence at the Djerassi Resident Artists Program and Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. She received her MFA in dramatic writing from NYU.

JULIE KRAMER (Director) At PTC, she directed Outside Mullingar on the mainstage and A Requiem for August Moon, Slow Food and True Art for Play-by-Play. Recent directing includes Elyzabeth Gregory Wilder’s Santa Doesn’t for Ensemble Studio Theatre and And…Action by Eleanor Burgess for Keen Company. She directed Wendy Weiner’s Hillary in a workshop at Public Theater and a production at New Georges. She directed her adaptation of Rona Jaffe’s The Best of Everything in New York (Critics’ Pick – The New York Times and Time Out, published Dramatists Play Service). Kramer has directed and developed new work at New Dramatists, New York Musical Festival, Uprights Citizens Brigade Theatre, the HBO/Aspen Comedy Festival, Juilliard, NYU, Dorset Theatre Festival, Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center and Mesto Zensk in Slovenia. She teaches directing for the Tepper Semester/Syracuse University. www.juliekramerdirector.com

KELSEY JAMES (Stage Manager) is excited to be joining PTC for her second Play-by-Play reading. She recently returned from Conway, Arkansas where she spent the summer as the production stage manager at the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre. Previous AST productions include: West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof, Romeo and Juliet and The Merchant of Venice. Other selected credits include Swing! The Musical and The Marvelous Wonderettes at the Little Theatre of the Rockies; Let’s Twist Again, Urban Cowboys, and By Gershwin at the Florida Studio Theatre; and American Idiot and The Liar at the University of Iowa Department of Theatre and Dance. She is a graduate of The University of Iowa Stage Management MFA Program and is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association.
