Artistic Staff Bios

KEITH JOSEF ADKINS (Playwright) is a playwright and screenwriter. His play, The West End, had its world premiere at Cincinnati Playhouse and was a finalist for the 2022 Steinberg-ATCA New Play Award. Other plays include Safe House, Pitbulls, The Last Saint on Sugar Hill, among others. Some of his awards include the Helen Merrill Playwriting Award, Samuel French’s Award for Impact and Activism in the Theater Community, National Black Theatre’s Teer Spirit Award. He is the artistic director of The New Black Fest, a theater organization that develops plays from the African Diaspora. Keith’s TV writing credits include “P-Valley” on Starz, Netflix’s “Outer Banks,” and “The Good Fight” on CBS. He’s currently developing projects with JJ Abrams; Bad Robot, and with Don Cheadle/Steven Soderbergh for HBO Max.

Opera: Terence Blanchard’s Champion (Boston Lyric Opera). Off-B’way: Yellowman (Billie Holiday), Bronte: A Portrait Of Charlotte (Alloy), Rosmersholm (Oslo Elsewhere). Others: Disgraced (Arena Stage, Great Theatre of China/China tour), The Color Purple (Portland Center Stage), and projects for Actors Theatre of Louisville, Guthrie, ACT, Folger Shakespeare, Mark Taper Forum, 24 Hour Plays/Broadway, South Coast Rep, Sundance, Round House, and many others. Currently serving as Distinguished Artist in Residence at Emerson College. 2018 Lloyd Richards’/National Black Theatre Award. MFA: Yale.

SARAH HUDSON (Production Stage Manager) Sarah is a recent transplant to Salt Lake City from Austin, TX. Her favorite past endeavors include work with The Long Center for the Performing Arts, Summer Stock Austin, ZACH Theatre, Texas Performing Arts, Zilker Theatre Productions, and most recently Utah Shakespeare Festival for their World Premiere of Gold Mountain.
