All the ABBA songs we love to dance to and sing along with are in this feel-good musical—“Dancing Queen,” “S.O.S.,” “Take a Chance on Me,” “Waterloo” and, of course, “Mamma Mia!” The greatest pop hits from the group who came to define the disco era are part of this cheerful musical about a young woman trying to find out who her real father is on the eve of her wedding on a beautiful Greek island.

She has conceived, directed and choreographed works for the Houston Symphony, Minnesota Pops, Phoenix Symphony, Lyrics and Lyricists at the 92nd Street Y and Norwegian Cruise Line. She has also created numbers for ice skating gold medalists Petrenko, Kulik, Gordeeva, Ando and ice dancing teams for the 2006, 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics. Guest artist at Jacob’s Pillow.

HELEN GREGORY (Musical Director/Conductor) is returning to conduct her tenth production for the Pioneer Theatre Company (Rent, In the Heights (2012), Something’s Afoot, 25th Annual…Spelling Bee, The Rocky Horror Show (2014 & 2015), Fiddler on the Roof, The Last Ship and In the Heights the Concert Production). Off-Broadway credits include: NY Theatre Workshop, Vineyard Theatre, The Public Theater, La Mama E.T.C. Regional theatres: Maltz Jupiter Theatre—(received 11 Carbonell nominations, Winner 2011 for Crazy for You), Asolo Repertory Theatre (Winner Sarasota Magazine Theatre Awards 2009—Best Musical Direction for Barnum), Alliance Theatre, Arkansas Repertory Theatre, Goodman Theatre, Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, The Human Race Theatre Company, New Jersey Repertory Company, Paper Mill Playhouse, Laguna Playhouse and Hangar Theatre. Gregory lives in Durango, CO.

JAMES KRONZER (Scenic Designer) calls Washington, D.C., home. Credits include Broadway, off-Broadway work,  and regional productions such as: Sweeney Todd at the Denver Center Performing Arts; All The Way at Repertory Theatre of St. Louis; and A Prayer for Owen Meany at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. He also designed scenery for Disney Cruise Lines’ Twice Charmed and has shows running on ten ships on the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet. TV credits include over 170 stand-up comedy specials for Comedy Central, Showtime, Netflix, Epix and Sesso. He has worked with comedians such as Marc Maron, Bo Burnham, Nick Offerman and Jim Gaffigan. Mr. Kronzer has been nominated 32 times for the Helen Hayes Award (D.C.) and has received the award eight times. His work can be seen at

Broadway: Amazing Grace, The Illusionists, Legally Blonde, Freshly Squeezed, Laughing Room Only. Off-Broadway: Desperate Measures, Clinton The Musical, Pageant, Vanities, A New Musical, Waiting for Godot, Addicted, Nunsense, Balancing Act, 10 productions for New York City Center Encores!. Regional: The Old Globe, Dallas Theater Center, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Asolo Rep Theatre, American Conservatory Theater, Cleveland Play House, Pasadena Playhouse, Goodspeed Opera House, Westport Country Playhouse. National Tours include: The Illusionists, Elf—The Musical, Shrek, Legally Blonde, Sweeney Todd, Hairspray, The Producers, The Sound of Music. Television: Live from Lincoln Center, Netflix and Comedy Central specials, New Year’s Eve from Time’s Square for the last 18 years. BRENDA VAN DER WIEL (Costume Designer) is part of the design faculty for the University of Utah Theatre Department and serves as head of the Performing Arts Design Program. She designs regularly for that department as well as for Pioneer Theatre Company and the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. Recent works in Utah include Hello Dolly!, the masks for Animal Farm, Blue Stockings and the Avenue Q puppets for the Babcock Theatre. Some favorite designs for Pioneer Theatre Company include Outside Mullingar, Alabama Story, Rent, Emma and A Christmas Story. Some favorite designs for the Alabama Shakespeare Festival include A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Little Mermaid, Mary Poppins, Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing, Comedy of Errors and The Count of Monte Cristo. Her work was seen at Utah Shakespeare Festival this past summer in Treasure Island and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

KATE WECKER (Sound Designer) This is Wecker’s debut season as the resident sound designer for PTC. She is excited to be returning to the Utah theatre community after several years as the audio supervisor on the national tour of Menopause: the Musical. Wecker has previously designed for Fox Valley Repertory, Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre and the Neil Simon Festival.

AMANDA FRENCH (Hair and Makeup Design) has been a makeup and hair designer for over 25 years. She has worked for Montana Shakespeare in the Parks, the Utah Shakespeare Festival, Utah Opera, Egyptian Theatre Company and the University of Texas at Austin. She is a contributing writer in the tenth edition of Stage Makeup by Corson, Glavan and Norcross, and her work can also be seen in The Costume Technician’s Handbook by Ingham and Covey, and Wig Making and Styling: A Complete Guide for Theatre and Film by Ruskai and Lowery. She attended the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati where she studied with Hair and Makeup Designer Lenna Kaleva. She is a member of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) and a current University of Utah adjunct professor of wigs and makeup.

MARY P. COSTELLO (Production Stage Manager) has worked on over 40 productions during seven seasons with PTC. Favorites include Newsies, Sting’s The Last Ship, The Will Rogers Follies, Les Misèrables, In the Heights, Next to Normal and Rent. Other stage management teams: Indiana Repertory Theatre, Connecticut Repertory Theatre, Boston Theatre Works, Grand Valley Shakespeare Festival and the Utah Shakespeare Festival. BECKY LYNN DAWSON (Stage Manager) is thrilled to be at Pioneer Theatre Company. Dawson holds a MFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts and a BFA from Utah State University. Selected stage management credits include From Here to Eternity, Saturday Night Fever, Mary Poppins, On the Town, Legally Blonde, Cats (Merry-Go-Round Playhouse); The Spitfire Grill, Chicago, M. Butterfly, I Hate Hamlet (Northern Stage); Moon Over Buffalo, The Hound of the Baskervilles, The Christians (Gulfshore Playhouse); Divinamente New York 2009 & 2010 (EH Arts International). She would like to send many thanks to her family for their continuing support.

EMILY NACRISSA GRIFFITH (1st Assistant Stage Manager) graduated from UVU with a bachelor of science in theatre arts with emphases in performance and design/technology. Griffith earned the Kennedy Center’s Meritorious Achievement Award for Excellence in the stage management fellowship for her work as the production stage manager of UVU’s Next to Normal, which received their National Award for Outstanding Production of a Play.

TAHRA SI’MONE VEASLEY (2nd Assistant Stage Manager) Previous assistant stage manager credits include The Musical Comedy of Murders (Grand Theatre), Steel Pier (Marriott Center for Dance), Animal Farm (Babcock), Twelfth Night (Salt Lake Shakespeare). Previous stage manager credits include Our Country’s Good (Babcock), Eclipsed (Studio 115/ KCACTF), Trash! (Sucker Punch Productions), Hamlet (U of U) and UYT Summer Productions.

Hello Dolly!

SYNOPSIS: Jerry Herman’s energetic Hello, Dolly! is a musical filled with charisma and heart. Matchmaker Dolly Levi is a widow, a matchmaker, and also a professional meddler –but everything changes when she decides that the next match she needs to make is to find someone for herself. Set in New York City at the turn of the century, Hello Dolly! is boisterous and charming from start to finish. Dolly Levi is one of the strongest and richest starring roles for a woman ever written for musical theatre.

LANGUAGE:  A few mild uses of  “damn.”

SMOKING AND DRINKING:  The characters sing of smoking although none is depicted, and wine and champagne are consumed during dinners.
