John Proctor Is the Villain — Utah Professional Premiere

by Kimberly Belflower

September 11-26, 2026
Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre
Play

A fierce, funny play about teenage girls rewriting the rules—and reclaiming their own stories.

Fueled by earbuds full of pop anthems, sheer determination, and a simmering sense of justice, five teenage girls are ready to confront the buried truths hiding in their small, single-stoplight town. A recent Broadway hit from playwright Kimberly Belflower, this bold, sharp-witted, and fiercely relevant play reexamines the stories we inherit and asks who gets to define what’s true — delivering a work that’s as entertaining as it is essential.

 FOR WHICH AUDIENCES?

John Proctor Is the Villain is recommended for mature teens and older. It contains strong adult language and mature themes including discussions of sexual assault, grooming, sexual harassment, and a brief mention of suicide.

If John Proctor Is the Villain were a film, it would likely be rated R.

Book & Lyrics by Howard Ashman
Music by Alan Menken
Based on the film by Roger Corman | Screenplay by Charles Griffith

October 23-November 7, 2026

A Co-Production with Arizona Theatre Company
Musical

Feed the plant…if you dare.

Based on the 1960 low budget Roger Corman horror movie (starring Jack Nicholson!), this cult classic musical is a perennial favorite and is currently enjoying a hugely successful Off-Broadway revival in New York. Little Shop of Horrors is the story of a beleaguered flower shop assistant who discovers a strange carnivorous plant that thrives on (gulp) human blood! With a score by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman (of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid fame) and featuring hit songs like “Somewhere That’s Green,” “Suddenly Seymour,” as well as the title song, it’s a monster hit!

FOR WHICH AUDIENCES?

Little Shop of Horrors is a campy musical recommended for ages 12 and up. The story

contains mild language, comic horror violence, and some adult situations including domestic abuse and reference to nitrous oxide addiction.

The film version of Little Shop of Horrors is rated PG-13.

The Man Who Came to Dinner

by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman

December 4-19, 2026
Meldrum Theatre at the Einar Nielsen Field House
Play

A fast-talking comedy stuffed with chaos, charm, and holiday cheer.

When famously acerbic radio personality Sheridan Whiteside slips on an icy doorstep and finds himself convalescing in a respectable Ohio home just before Christmas, he quickly turns polite holiday hospitality into full-blown pandemonium. As friends, eccentrics, aspiring actors, and assorted hangers-on descend upon the house, Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman’s The Man Who Came to Dinner unfolds into a whirlwind of sharp wit, romantic entanglements, and delightfully outsized characters. A true classic of American comedy, it’s a brisk, laugh-filled holiday treat with just the right touch of mischief.

FOR WHICH AUDIENCES?

The Man Who Came to Dinner is considered suitable for most viewers. The play contains some suggestive humor, insults, and manipulative behavior.

If this production of The Man Who Came to Dinner were a film, it would be rated PG.

She soon falls prey to the school’s three “frenemies,” led by the ruthless Regina George. Eureka Day — Utah Premiere

by Jonathan Spector

March 12-27, 2027
Meldrum Theatre at the Einar Nielsen Field House
Play

A sly satire about a community determined to agree—no matter the cost.

Fresh from Broadway, this uproariously funny drama is set in Berkeley, California’s ultra-progressive Eureka Day School, where every decision is made by consensus. But when a mumps outbreak hits, the school’s carefully cultivated culture of inclusiveness spirals into chaos. As parents and board members clash over vaccines, personal freedoms, and viral misinformation, a community built on open-minded ideals implodes.  Wildly relevant and bitingly funny, this 2025 Tony Award-winning satire tackles one of the defining questions of our time: how do you build consensus when no one can agree on the truth?

FOR WHICH AUDIENCES?

Eureka Day contains strong adult language and adult themes including child illness and child loss.  It is recommended for mature teens and older.

If Eureka Day were a film, it would be rated R.
