Marc A. Day is a dynamic and accomplished leader in the field of philanthropy, with over a decade of experience in driving strategic development initiatives, cultivating relationships, and executing high-profile special events. Marc’s career has been built upon his special ability to build and nurture relationships with major partners, facilitating increased support and engagement and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. His strategic vision, focus, and empathy have consistently delivered impactful results, contributing strongly towards organizational long-term success.
In his most recent position as the Assistant Vice President of Philanthropy at Manhattan School of Music (MSM), Marc oversaw a team responsible for special events, donor stewardship, annual fund campaigns, alumni and parent engagement. Under his guidance, the department not only surpassed financial targets but also increased partner retention and engagement, ensuring sustainable growth for the institution’s philanthropic efforts. He spearheaded initiatives including launching the School’s new alumni network and giving page, in addition to coordinating international fundraising efforts with the School’s International Advisory Board.
Previously, Marc served as Director of Special Events and Donor Stewardship at MSM, where he successfully led two innovative virtual fundraising galas during the Covid-19 pandemic and assisted with exceeding the institution’s annual fundraising targets. His events have featured world-renowned musicians, actors, sports legends, and celebrities such as Kelli O’Hara, Bebe Neuwirth, Alec Baldwin, Leonard Slatkin, and Bernie Williams underscoring his ability to engage high-profile figures in support of educational and cultural causes.
Marc’s keen organizational skills and eye for detail are further reflected in his prior roles, including Acting Chief of Staff in the Office of the President, where he managed key institutional projects and coordinated executive leadership searches.
In addition to his achievements in philanthropy, Marc’s musical talents, initially honed under the expert tutelage at the Madeleine Choir School, have led him to appear as a chorister on four GRAMMY-nominated recordings and one GRAMMY award-winning album. He has also contributed his tenor voice to the soundtracks of several major blockbuster films.
Utah-born and proud, Marc is excited to bring his skills and talents to his new role as Director of Development at the University of Utah’s Pioneer Theatre Company.
